Description
OverviewFounded in 1925, The Camargo Club is the premier "Family" club in Cincinnati, Ohio. With the Seth Raynor designed golf course, and nearly 400 acres of property, the place is from a bygone era. In 2018, the Club did an extensive renovation of the practice facilities, with the addition of a short game area, 2800 square foot indoor/outdoor practice building and nearly doubled the grass range tee in size to 55,000 square feet. In 2022, the Club resurfaced 5 acres of greens with 007 XL bent grass, upgraded the irrigation system, re-grassed all bunker faces and green banks, and restored bunker faces, drainage and sand.
The Camargo Club is in the eastern suburb of Indian Hill, approximately 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati. The Club plays 13,500 rounds annually, without starting times and has a tournament schedule of 12 major events. Camargo hosts NO Monday outings.
The Seasonal Assistant Golf Professional will be responsible for all facets of the golf operation as determined by the Head Professional. This includes promoting everything golf related at Camargo. This position includes member relations, staff relations, tournament operations, teaching, tournament administration, merchandising, supporting the caddie program, playing golf with members and daily outside operations.
Time of employment will be from May 11-October 18, 2026. Approximately 23 weeks.
Supervised By: Tom Cecil, PGA Head Professional
Experience Required
- Three plus years of experience at a private country club preferred.
- PGA Members or Associates working towards PGA Membership preferred.
- Strong organizational, planning and priortization skills.
- Service and member focused.
- Experience with Microsoft Office preferred. Proficient in Golf Genius Tournament software.
- Experience with a caddie program preferred.
Essential Responsibilities
- Understands the "Statement of Camargo Principles".
- Maintain a close working relationship with Head Golf Professional, General Manager, Clubhouse and Superintendent and their respective staffs.
- Maintains an appropriate level of availability and presence around the Golf Shop to ensure high member satisfaction.
- Answers phone and respond to emails in a timely manner and helps members and guests with questions related to the golf program.
- Assists with efficient operation of the Golf Shop - helps with inventory, equipment sales, portion of merchandise, lightning detection system, golf carts, guest charges via the Jonas POS system.
- Provides service to members - addressing them by last name - loading clubs, arranging games, dispensing range balls, visibility on the first tee, greeting guests, etc.
- Highly active in Tournament Management through the understanding of the format of each of the key events at Camargo.
- Maintains a solid knowledge of the game - rules, handicap system, etc.
- Knowledgeable of equipment, keeping up to date with the latest technologies and inventory of demo clubs.
- Willingness to do whatever the job requires (cleaning, vacuuming etc.) to preset an exceptional facility to the members.
- Maintains/gains solid knowledge of the golf swing and teaching methods through Teaching Professional.
- Supports a fun/educational junior golf clinic program and PGA Junior League.
- Supervise and lead bag room/cart barn staff daily.
- Maintains an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the Golf Shop.
- Supervise and manage the entire golf operation in a professional manner in the absence of the Head Golf Professional and First Assistant Golf Professional.
- Provide club repairs as needed.
- Facilitate the caddie service offered at Camargo.
- Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.
- Desire to learn and be mentored.
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays and flexibility in availability.
- Self-Motivated with a desire to promote "everything" golf.
