Description
The First Assistant Superintendent will play a crucial role in maintaining the pristine conditions of an 18-hole golf course, clubhouse, driving range, and practice area. Working closely with the Director of Agronomy, the ideal candidate will possess the skills and experience necessary to independently handle the day-to-day operations of the golf course maintenance. Responsibilities will include overseeing maintenance tasks, managing a team of grounds crew workers, implementing turf maintenance programs, and ensuring the overall health and appearance of the golf course. The Senior Assistant Superintendent will assist in scheduling and coordinating maintenance activities, monitoring irrigation systems, and performing equipment maintenance. This position offers a unique opportunity for growth, with the potential for advancement into a Superintendent role. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a passion for creating a world-class golfing experience for members and guests.- Minimum of 5 years experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years as an Assistant Superintendent or greater
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
- Knowledge of turfgrass management
- Previous Paspalum experience preferred
- Knowledge and experience in South Florida climate
- Experience in supervising golf course workers
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a team
- Valid Pesticide applicators license
- Valid Fertilizer applicators license
- Experience operating and understanding of the irrigation system and able to diagnose electrical issues pertaining to the irrigation control system.
- Experience operating most, if not all, golf course maintenance equipment
- Experience handling multi-cultural staff and abilities to speak Spanish and Creole are a plus
- Able to promote a safe work environment through training and PPE
- Required to lift at least 50 Lbs. and work outside in the South Florida weather
- Must have a valid driver's license
