Overview

Haverhill Country Club is looking for a motivated PGA Member Head Golf Professional.  The Head Professional will directly manage all day-to-day golf operations and oversee a departmental staff of fifteen including Assistant Professionals, two Outdoor Operations Managers and other bag/cart/shop personnel. The Head Professional will report directly to the General Manager, working collaboratively with the Golf & Tournament Committee and Board of Governors to achieve a high-level, private club experience for all who visit Haverhill Country Club.

 

The Club is a highly regarded, private, 18-hole facility located in the Merrimack Valley (Northern Massachusetts).  The course is a fabulous Wayne Stiles design with conditions and terrain that impress and challenge every level of golfer. Facilities are always well maintained and the club hosts 26,000 rounds annually, which includes a considerable corporate outing and tournament schedule.

 

Haverhill Country Club has been very active in providing enhancements to the golf course within the Master Plan created by Robert McNeil.  Among other significant projects, a new water retention pond and irrigation system will be constructed within the next 3 years.  The club is also constructing a new swimming pool to be opened in 2026.

 

Start date for the position will be no later than February 15th with seasonal status negotiable based on the candidates ability/desire to work throughout the winter months. The club completed the install of two indoor TrackMan studios in 2023. It is desired that the Head Professional manage the use of the studios throughout the winter months, utilizing Assistant Professionals for daily operations.

 

Minimum   anticipated   compensation for the proper candidate in a 52-week position is $85,000.

Experience Required

The qualified candidate must be a PGA Member with at least 5-7 years in the business, Head Professional Experience and/or at least 3 years in a Lead Assistant role.

Essential Responsibilities

• Implementation and success of an extensive annual private club tournament calendar
• Merchandising & Inventory Control for retail shop doing $360k in annual sales
• Ordering, receiving, pricing, sales & marketing of golf shop
• Hiring, training & scheduling of all golf operations employees
• Must be able to establish leadership within the position, earning respect from other personnel, members & guests of Haverhill Country Club
• Required attendance at monthly Golf & Tournament Committee meetings, contributing data and guidance as needed
• Required attendance at weekly management meetings
