Plant Design Integration Engineer
The Plant Design Integration Engineer role, part of the Plant Design Integration team, will support the development and maintenance of the Natrium Reactor Plant architecture and programs and facilitate integration of complex technical areas that span between design, analysis, licensing, and testing to ensure that the Natrium Reactor Plant meets their stakeholder, regulatory, operations, and commercial objectives. The Plant Design Integration Engineer should have a strong technical background to provide technical oversight over nuclear design and analysis efforts and apply systems engineering principles to manage complex subject matter. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication and coordination skills to facilitate teamwork across multiple engineering disciplines and project organizations, and should be comfortable with making technical decisions that have broad impact to the Natrium Reactor Plant Architecture.
Responsibilities
• Develop, manage, maintain, and integrate plant level requirements and specification documents for integration with plant design activities
• Research, develop, and implement design bases and design strategies in support of plant design and licensing activities from various sources that include risk-Informed, performance-based strategies and methodologies, safety analysis concepts, commercial and operational objectives, and stakeholder objectives
• Interface with design disciplines to facilitate allocation of plant requirements and develop plant requirement verification plans
• Ensure and review that licensing and code requirements are clearly established and implemented in the design and in alignment with project design and licensing strategies
• Support and review plant design cost studies, engineering decisions, and perform interdisciplinary reviews as a representative of plant level considerations and stakeholder for the plant architecture
• Review, coordinate, and oversee plant integrated, safety, and risk analyses for their impact to plant functional and performance requirements
• Lead and support design and design integration reviews and resolution of cross functional technical issues
• Lead and support the integration of plant information into licensing basis and regulatory submittal documents that support the licensing of nuclear facilities under the Licensing Modernization Project
• Keep Project Management and Engineering Management informed of major emerging technical issues and risks
• Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify efficiency/enhancement opportunities
Key Qualifications and Skills
• The successful candidate should have a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in nuclear facility design or operation that includes experience in one or more of the following areas:
o Plant or systems engineering.
o Design engineering.
o Fire Protection.
o Operations.
o Reactor Engineering.
• The successful candidate should have a minimum of a BS degree in a relevant engineering discipline like nuclear, chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering or a Senior Reactor Operators license or equivalent.
• The successful candidate should demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
• The successful candidate should have a working understanding of NRC regulations and associated guidance. Prior interaction with the NRC staff is desirable.
• The successful candidate will display leadership skills by proactively driving cross functional design, licensing, safety analysis, and PRA collaboration and integration.
• The candidate must be team oriented, and able to work effectively with geographically distributed and design team members.
• This position requires the candidate to be conversant across a wide variety of engineering disciplines, programs, and processes as well as interfacing organizations (Licensing, Operations, Procurement, Construction, Document Control).
• The candidate should demonstrate the ability to acquire new knowledge and apply it in a fast-paced environment.
• The candidate should demonstrate the ability to organize information to convey it to other disciplines and organizations.
• The candidate should demonstrate the ability to be innovative.
• The successful candidate should have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey critical design integration information to the management team, the engineering and licensing team, customers etc.
• The candidate should be able to work in a conceptual design and first of a kind environment that requires the ability to use good engineering judgement and identify deliverables and processes to achieve key project objectives.
• The candidate should have experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
• The candidate should possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork.

Salary Range Level 12: $169,922 - $235,464
Salary Range Level 13: $194,197 - $279,158
Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual’s qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
