Location: Burlington, VT
Situated in the heart of Burlington's downtown district, our office sits high on the fourth floor of the Wells-Richardson historic building overlooking the beautiful Lake Champlain waterfront and Adirondack Mountains.As a Principal Wastewater Engineer you will:
- Demonstrate mastery in multiple areas of significant technical expertise through training, certifications, and experiences over a number of projects
- Demonstrate the ability to engage with clients and secure projects in commercial, industrial, and municipal wastewater
- Provide the technical expertise to various project teams and/or divisions, and consults and advises regularly on processes and requirements
- Act as a top technical advisor and expert in the appropriate field
- Provide technical professional opinions to the wastewater engineering team, Division Manager, and CEO or Director of Engineering Operations relative to project-related legal matters such as errors and omissions claims
- Drive technical expertise within the appropriate discipline by mentoring, coaching, and training others through constructive knowledge transfer
- Facilitate and lead difficult project decisions and technical issues with project managers, clients, and staff
- Understand the interdisciplinary issues and coordination of tasks for the full project and resolve complex issues to ensure projects are completed on-time and within budget
- May be a Team Lead responsible for supervising staff and assisting in career development, training, and managing work assignments to maintain effective billability of the team
- Stay abreast of industry changes, rules and regulations updates and improvements in areas of technical expertise
- Promote corporate visibility and share expertise by speaking at local and national conferences, symposiums, trade shows and by authoring white papers and advisories
- Make final decisions in matters of team technical solutions relative to procedures and finished product to remain consistent with contract requirements and company procedures
- Responsible for ensuring that appropriate and comprehensive quality assurance and quality control reviews are performed consistent with the procedures of the firm and specific client requirements
Qualified Candidates:
- BS/MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
- Current PE in VT, NH, ME, or MA with the ability to obtain reciprocal licenses, if needed
- 30+ years of experience on wastewater projects
- Exceptional oral/ written communication skills
- Salary is contingent on experience
