Highlights of the Role
Are you passionate about designing infrastructure that supports safe, reliable water services for your community? EPCOR’s Engineering & Technical Services team is hiring a Water Design Engineer (Reliability Engineer) to help shape the future of our water pipe assets.
As part of the Pipe Asset Engineering team, you’ll deliver high-quality engineering design services across a variety of capital programs and projects. You’ll collaborate with project managers, asset planners, operations, and construction teams to ensure our designs meet rigorous standards and serve the long-term needs of our communities.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the Owner’s Engineer for Asset Protection and Land Agreements, safeguarding EPCOR infrastructure during third-party work.
Review and update Volume 4 (Water) Design and Construction Standards in collaboration with subject matter experts and developers.
Evaluate external submissions (e.g., City of Edmonton) for impacts on water/wastewater infrastructure and ensure compliance with EPCOR standards.
Oversee and authenticate in-house water pipe asset designs, delegating tasks to engineering technologists.
Collaborate with project managers and design teams to ensure timely, high-quality project delivery.

Requirements
What You Bring
Education & Credentials
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA.
Experience
Minimum 4 years in engineering and construction of municipal water or pipeline infrastructure.
Strong understanding of water system design, planning, and construction.
Technical Skills
Expertise in pressurized pipe system design and construction.
Ability to analyze technical data and produce clear reports.
Familiarity with engineering software and digital tools.
Assets
Hydraulic modelling experience.
GIS platform proficiency.
Knowledge of water infrastructure standards.
Communication & Collaboration
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across teams and with external stakeholders.
Skilled in conflict resolution and navigating diverse perspectives.
