Description
The FindlayTownship Municipal Authority is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Wastwater Laborer (Operator Trainee). This entry Level Position provides hands-on training in the operation and maintenance of the Authority's wastewater facility and collection system.
The successful canidate will work alongside experienced operators and will recieve on-the job training and continuing education with the goal of becoming a licensed Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.
Duties and Responsibilities
Daily operation and maintenance of waterwater treatment plant.
Perform routine cleaning, housekeeping, and preventative maintenance throughout the treatment Facilty.
Assist with operation, inspection, and maintenance of pumps,motors, blowers, valves, and other treatment equipment.
Collect samples and assist with laboratory testing and recordkeeping as directed.
Maintain Authority grounds, including mowing,trimming,weed control, and general site upkeep.
Assist with maintenance and repairs of Authority vehicles, equipment, and maintenance shop.
Respond to emergency calls and assist with after-hours repairs as needed.
Participate in required safety training, operator training, and continuing education programs.
Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Operations Manager.
Requirements
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to work in confined spaces and at varying heights while following all required safety procedures.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to respond to emergency situations outside of normal working hours.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely use hand and power tools.
Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills.
Training and Licensing
Findlay Township Municipal Authority (FTMA) provides on-the-job training and continuing education to help employees become licensed Pennsylvania Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators. FTMA supports employees in obtaining the required certifications and developing the skills needed for a successful career in wastewater operations.
