Ironhorse Golf Club in Leawood, Kansas is seeking a full-time Assistant Superintendent. This role oversees the maintenance and construction of the golf course and ensures turf grass is repaired and maintained to established standards. The position supports a positive experience for members and guests while contributing to golf club operations.
Experience Required
Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, or equivalent from a four-year, two-year, or technical school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three to four years of related experience and/or training.
Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
Valid Driver's License required.
Pesticide Application License required.
Ability to read and speak English required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, talk, and hear.
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
Essential Responsibilities
Work with the Superintendent to ensure the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.
Assist in planning, organizing, and directing the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants.
Ensure construction equipment is properly maintained.
Assist in procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with required reports.
Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
Reconcile and provide timely coding of invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
Coordinate snow removal, depending upon facility location.
Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within regulations, and address environmental concerns.
Manage department members including Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
Provide orientation and training to new associates and develop ongoing training programs.
Monitor business volume forecasts and plan manpower, productivity, costs, and expenses accordingly.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
