Overview

Oversees the maintenance and construction of the golf course (or courses) and ensures that turf grass is repaired and maintained to established standards.

Experience Required

• Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree (AA), or equivalent from a four- or two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science
• Three to four years related experience and/or training
• Valid Driver's License
• Pesticide Application License
• Ability to read and speak English required to perform job duties
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds

Essential Responsibilities

• Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed
• Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties
• Assist in planning, organizing, and directing maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers
• Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants
• Ensure construction equipment is properly maintained
• Assist in procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations
• Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with preparation of required reports
• Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible
• Reconcile and provide timely coding of invoices, payroll, and other required documents
• Coordinate snow removal depending upon facility location
• Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations
• Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within regulations; address environmental concerns
• Manage department members including Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician
• Assure effective orientation and training for each new associate and develop ongoing training programs
• Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance
• Incorporate safe work practices in job performance
