Description
OverviewOversees the maintenance and construction of the golf course (or courses) and ensures that turf grass is repaired and maintained to established standards.
Experience Required
- Bachelors degree, Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from four or two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three to four years related experience and/or training.
- Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Pesticide Application License.
- Ability to read and speak English is required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
- Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.
- Assist in the planning, organizing, and direction of the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
- Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plants.
- Ensure that construction equipment is properly maintained.
- Assist in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
- Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with preparation of required reports.
- Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible.
- Reconcile and provide timely coding of all invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
- Coordinate snow removal, depending upon facility location.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
- Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations.
- Manage department members including roles such as Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
- Assure that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
- Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
