Description
OverviewDirectly supervises and implements sound agronomic programs in accordance with Troon Quality Standards while working within the fiscal parameters of the facility.
Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree (BA), preferably in Agronomy; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five to ten years related experience and/or training.
- State Pesticide Applicator License.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job.
- Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
- Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop budgeting and capital plans and manage department expenses in accordance with property directives.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting of financial and non-financial information as directed or required.
- Implement all Troon Golf Agronomy standards and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Stay current on agronomic information.
- Ensure proper mixing, calibration, and application of chemicals and fertilizers used on the course.
- Ensure associates obtain proper training and/or licenses to perform job tasks safely and within regulations.
- Maintain awareness of all agronomic activity on the course and provide feedback and direction to key staff members.
- Ensure effective communication within the department and across departments.
- Provide leadership and a positive working environment that fosters teamwork, communication, ethical behavior, cleanliness, and a can-do attitude.
- Develop, train, coach, discipline, and mentor managers within the department.
- Interview, hire, train, assign work, evaluate performance, reward, discipline associates, and resolve complaints and problems.
- Manage maintenance staff including Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Environmental Technical, Mechanic, Foreman, Irrigation Technician, Greenskeeper, and Equipment Operator roles.
- Ensure effective orientation and ongoing training for new associates.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
