OverviewThe General Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational excellence, and an exceptional member experience across all aspects of the club. This position works collaboratively with the Club's governing body to establish and execute the long-term vision of the organization while reporting directly to Pinnacle Golf Properties. The General Manager is expected to foster strong relationships with club leadership, members, staff, and ownership while ensuring financial health, operational success, and continued growth of the club.
The WildeWood Club is a highly successful private club located in Columbia, South Carolina. The club features a beautifully maintained 18-hole championship golf course with TifEagle Bermudagrass greens, a swimming pool, indoor and outdoor tennis facilities, and a welcoming clubhouse that serves as the social hub for its members.
Originally acquired by a group of local investors in 2019, The WildeWood Club has experienced significant reinvestment and growth. Surrounded by the established WildeWood community of more than 1,300 homes, the club enjoys a strong partnership with the neighboring homeowners' associations. Together, ownership and the surrounding community have committed more than $2.5 million in planned capital improvements, resulting in over $3.1 million invested in the property to date. These enhancements include a complete replacement of the golf course irrigation system, along with numerous facility and infrastructure improvements that position the club for continued long-term success.
The ideal General Manager will be a visible, engaging, and forward-thinking leader who embraces a culture of service excellence, financial stewardship, and continuous improvement while building upon the club's strong reputation as one of Columbia's premier private club destinations.
Experience Required
3 years direct experience in management of all areas including: Golf, F&B, Course Maintenance, and Sales & Marketing
5 years direct experience in management of golf operations
Essential Responsibilities
Responsible for complete financial aspects and planning of operation. These aspects include: budgeting daily and monthly profit and loss management and complete administration of all departments.
Prepares on-going and special reports such as: Daily Business Recap, Monthly Business Report, all golf statistics and any additional report required to completely analyze the facility performance at all times.
Provides consistent and visible leadership and direction to all areas of the facility by developing a consistent and routine means of internal communication.
Establishes service goals and objectives for the operation, in conjunction with PGP Executive Team' overall goals and objectives. Such goals and objectives should set the facility apart from the competition.
In conjunction with the Director of Sales & Marketing for PGP Executive Team, prepares recommendations for the marketing, public relations and sales efforts of the facility.
Monitors and advises on the implementation of the Marketing and Sales plan.
Implements all sales and marketing plans and strategies for facility.
Insures staff timeliness in responding to the customer's needs.
Establishes, maintains and supervises all department heads and ensures established professional criteria standards.
Establishes a property-wide training and reference manual for quality standards and policies and procedures.
Ensures accurate and compliant purchasing procedures for all areas are maintained in conjunction with company policy.
In conjunction with the VP of Regional Operations and PGP Executive Team develop annual business strategies for the facility, both financial and marketing goals.
Develops career path training for direct report supervision and "key operating" positions for all departments.
Provides consistent and routine communication to PGP Executive Team as it relates to the daily operations of the division and long-term planning.
Fosters a management style which encourages suggestions and opinions, open door policy, strong employee relations and excellent customer service satisfaction.
Assumes additional responsibility and guidance as directed and requested by the Director of Golf Operations for PGP Executive Team.
Executes the personnel functions for entire facility by interviewing applicants, evaluating and reviewing employees and disciplining employees as necessary.
Follows fair progressive discipline / coach and counseling procedures.
Performs a daily walk-through and visible inspection of entire facility and all buildings. Communicates in writing to the department head, any area that is not in compliance with facility standards.
Approves the final hiring and discharge of any employee.
Benefits
Health Benefit Program on the first day of the month following the date of full time employment. The company will pay 75% of the premium cost for you. Any additional costs for spouse and/or dependent coverage will be your responsibility.
Optional 401(k) plan at a 3% pre-tax contribution rate. However, participation is completely voluntary.
Eligible for all other benefits, i.e., PTO as outlined in the Employee Handbook for Pinnacle HR Group, LLC that are offered to all full-time employees.
Annual dues for PGA membership will be paid by the club. Continuing education necessary for the recertification/certification of your PGA requirements will be paid by the club. Any additional education will be discussed and must be pre-approved.
$75 per month to offset the expense of your personal cell phone at the cost of the operation.
Provided with a uniform allowance for logo items of $300 per quarter.
Reimbursement of mileage expenses at the annual published federal mileage rate for any and all travel related to any business for The WildeWood Club.
You and your immediate family will be granted complimentary privileges for golf privileges at The WildeWood Club.
Eligible to participate in the club's Employee Holiday Fund collection. The collection and distribution of funds will be overseen by yourself and Pinnacle Golf Properties.
All prepared food will be at a 50% reduction from retail pricing.
