Description
The St. Johns Department of Public Services is now accepting applications for a full-time Wastewater Supervisor.
Under the guidance of the DPS Director, assists by planning and supervising day to day operations of the DPS – Wastewater Division. Maintain and provide improvements to the existing wastewater facility and collection system. Analyze, treat and discharge all wastewaters in accordance to our NPDES Permit. Promote safe work practices to the DPS team and assuring that safety equipment is available. Responsible for preparing and submitting multiple reports annually to the EGLE as required. Notes needed repairs, answers citizen’s “request for services”.

Requirements
Following are the minimum qualifications: Education requirement of a high school diploma or equivalent. Three years minimum experience related to wastewater treatment and/or collection systems or equivalent in increasingly responsible positions. Must possess a State of Michigan Class B Wastewater Certification, Must be able to understand and implement written instructions, system maps and construction/building drawings. Must be able to communicate instructions to crew members and be able to enforce safety requirements, including interpretation of Material Safety Data Sheets. Must be able to perform heavy lifting. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions. Must possess valid Michigan Vehicle Operator License. Commercial Driver License and/or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment. Must pass DOT physical and participate in random drug-alcohol program.
