Oversees the maintenance and construction of the golf course and ensures that turfgrass is repaired and maintained to established standards.
Experience Required
Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree (AA), or equivalent from a four-year or two-year college or technical school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three to four years of related experience and/or training.
Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
Valid Driver's License.
Pesticide Application License.
Ability to read and speak English.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Those with 4+ years of fulltime maintenance crew experience or foreman experience are encouraged to apply.
Irrigation experience is helpful.
Essential Responsibilities
Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
Supervise and assist maintenance staff with daily duties.
Assist in planning, organizing, and directing the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turfgrasses, trees, and ornamental plants.
Ensure that construction equipment is properly maintained.
Assist in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with the preparation of required reports.
Follow sound purchasing procedures, utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
Reconcile and provide timely coding of all invoices, payroll, and other required documents.
Coordinate snow removal, depending on facility location.
Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
Ensure associates obtain the proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and in accordance with regulations and address environmental concerns.
Manage department members including Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
Assure that effective orientation and training are provided to each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
Monitor business volume forecasts and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expenses.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
